TSUKA AND TSUNAGI
Tsuka (handles) and Tsunagi (wooden blade) are made out
of the same high quality Honoki wood used for Saya. The
Tsunagi include an identically sized wooden Habaki and
this is used for mounting the sword Koshirae. The reason
for this is that it would be a mistake to mount a freshly
polished blade back into an old scabbard, so the blade is
kept in a Shirasaya (storage scabbard) and the mounting is
kept separate. Each can then be individually enjoyed. The
Tsuka price varies depending on the quality of Same
(rayskin) used and the size.
