SAYA
Both Shirasaya and Bukezukuri Saya are made with top
quality Honoki wood, a member of the Magnolia family
indigenous to Japan and chosen for sword scabbards because
of the lack of pitch pockets and forgiving nature of the
wood on a freshly polished sword blade.
Our Shirasaya can be embellished with ivory Hatome
(pigeon's eyes) and black horn Mekugi and these we term
as Good Shirasaya. Bukezukuri Saya include buffalo horn
Koiguchi, Kurikata and Kojiri and are finished ready for
lacquer.
